18 Jun Today is a hat kind of day…
Haven’t you had one of those days? Or weeks? Today, in the middle of June, I’m wearing jeans, a hoodie, and a Neff hat. And if I didn’t have to be at work, I’d be in sweats too. Yep, it’s one of those kind of days. I woke up feeling tired and emotionally drained, and not feeling a whole lot of anything, other than sleep in my eyes. Brushed my teeth, washed my face, and came downstairs to cook breakfast and lunch for little man’s day at camp. Still feeling sleepy and undecided about the day, I opened up the book we’ve been reading by Mark Nepo. Today’s affirmation…it had to do with freeing your heart of clutter. It was a little wordy, and so I had to paraphrase it’s meaning for my son afterwards.
Here’s what it boils down to: JUST LIKE WE HAVE TO HAVE CLEAR LUNGS TO TAKE OUR NEXT BREATH, WE HAVE TO HAVE A CLEAR HEART TO FEEL OUR NEXT FEELING. If our heart is full of leftover negative emotion, we aren’t free to feel joy, love, gratitude. Today, while I’m aware of my blessings, I’m unclear about what feelings I need to let go of. It’s been a bumpy week, to say the least.
I’m working on this today. I could use some TLC, I think.
