Simple – Mamas and Kid Approved – Hummus

AKA (according to my sister, and all Hebrew speakers) Glottal CHoo-moos. Hehe

Until now, with every trip to Trader Joes, at least 2 containers of hummus ended up in our cart. This has been known to be true even with the knowledge that 2 or more containers were sitting in our fridge unopened. We truly eat it like it may be outlawed at any moment, so it made perfect sense to try making it ourselves. I admit, hummus is not that expensive (especially from TJs); nevertheless, there’s something simply lovely about mixing up a batch at home. It feels, for lack of better words, homey.

So, in my very humble opinion, this is the best hummus in the world.

As easy as putting the following into a good blender:

1 can garbanzo beans
1/4-1/2 cup plain yogurt (I have been known to use whatever we have on hand (last night I used honey greek yogurt from trader joes – it was still delish!)
1 teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic
5-ish Tablespoons Tahini Paste
a little lemon juice
liquid for blending (I’ve used both plain rice milk and chicken broth, depending on what I have) – add a little at a time just so the mixture blends well in blender.

Ps Feel free to add things like roasted peppers, spices, just had an idea – Srracha Hot sauce which we LOVE – may be fab. Be creative for your taste buds’ sake.

It matters not what you eat hummus with. Try it with every and all vegetable, every and all snack food (chips, pretzels, etc), tortillas (fried or not), and almost every genre of meal. Be creative. 🙂

It’s really that easy. And the ingredients keep long and well. Perfect to keep stocked, in our case, always. Enjoy!  jules
